This is my first project after taking up embroidery again... I realized something *amazing* in the past few weeks: it clears my mind. 

I've tried running, meditation, swimming and anything you might imagine and I have finally found something I love that also helps me unplug for a while. #win

I have to admit that I once heard or read that you judge an embroidery project by how neat the back is... and I am slightly obsessed as you can see. This is the back side of a project I am working on for ars.media and I think it looks as pretty as the front! 

My classmate, Paula, embroidered one of her favorite cartoons... it made my day. 

Here's a project made by my embroidery teacher, Fer. I find it fabulous.

In Mexico there is a strong tradition of celebrating our dead. Here's some context for those of you who are freaking out:

Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de Muertos) is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico, in particular the Central and South regions, and acknowledged around the world in other cultures. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey. In 2008 the tradition was inscribed in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.[1] (you can read the rest here)

For a very long time I'd been wanting to stitch a brainstorm and was debating whether to do a storm of brains or a brain with a storm... I decided on the latter but might still try out the former!

Stitching a little something for baby Lila (and re-learning cross-stitching tricks)!

Given the political situation of the world in 2017, this remains as true today as ever.
